There is no best way.

I hate trying to answer this question.

“What is the best way to do X?” "How can I play jr A"? “How do I get to the NHL?”

I wish I could tell you I have all the answers, but I don’t.

I have a lot of them, but not all.

Many parts of sports (and life) occur without rhyme or reason.

However, you can and should do everything in your power to give yourself every opportunity to be successful.

1. “What is the best way to do X?” - Find a coach/trainer/expert for your particular goal and put in the work that needs to get done to achieve it.

2. “How can I play jr A (or another league that is on your horizon)”- You need to be better than everyone else, plain and simple. How do you become better than everyone else? Go see step 1 and the first newsletter.

3. “How do I get to the NHL?” - Same answer as #2.

I hope I don’t come off as facetious, but the answers are straightforward. Implementation is the hard part.

Where panic begins to set in for goalies and parents is the “I’m doing all these things, but am I on the right path?”

You’ll never truly know the answer to that, but that is were experts will help guide you.

A good coach will be able to tell you if you are progressing well, have stagnated or regressed.

Be hesitant of coaches who are always saying “you have potential” constantly, “I can turn you into this and that” or only have positive things to say all the time. That typically means they just want your money.

If you seem to be getting better year-on-year, then what you are doing is working. Don’t change it.

If your gut tells you that something isn’t right, then it probably isn’t.

That’s the best advice I can give.

Every NHL goalie had a different journey to the top. Don’t try and replicate what they are doing. Carve your own path.
