Get Out of the Left Lane

Don't be an anchor

We’ve all been there.

Trying to get somewhere. Making great time. 4 lane highway. You’re in the left lane. All the sudden, a car pulls in front of you. They’re going well below an acceptable pace for anyone who isn’t a rare type of blind and deaf snail. You’re stuck. BAM. You’ve added 25mins to your arrival time.

I’m tired of hearing athletes talk about playing at their highest level—whether that’s college, AAA, AA, Rep or pro—but they’re cruising under the speed limit.

Using a car analogy because I’m currently annotating this while stuck in the left lane, going 65 in a 75. (For Canadians think about 70 in an a 100 Km/h). Basically, a crime.

If you’re reading this, you clearly care about your game. So, why go slow in the fast lane?

Too many young athletes are satisfied with just doing the status quo or what everyone else is doing, and it kills me because I, as an athlete, wasn’t like this.

As a coach, I want to help you get what you want.

Seeing kids on cruise control, not willing to put the pedal down, kills me. It also holds everyone else around them back.

An yeah, that’s how my brain works. Everything always comes back to performance.
